Addis Nola 2514 Bayou Rd, New Orleans, LA 70119 Many years later, I finally got to try Ethiopian food! It's all about injera, this spongy flatbread, with stews and other stuff, and it's known for being spicy and tasty, lots of veggie options too. We got the Alemayehu combo - sambusas, Doro Wot, veggie platter, and lamb. It was all delicious, though I could've used more protein. The whole food and friendly service was awesome! #tonylameats #addisnola @addisnola #ethopianfood #nolala #Nola #goodeats #foodiesofinstagram
Delicious Ethiopian food! Today we went for brunch. Bottomless mimosas...yes! Jollof rice with egg is great. Crispy Awaze chicken & waffle. Ethiopian honey wine is unique & tasty. Service is good and friendly. They explain any item in detail if you are not sure. The ambiance is very casual and bathroom was clean.
AMAZING service! Amazing happy hour! The food is some of the best Ethiopian I've ever had. The vibes are chill. The Resturant is clean and I dine here EVERY TIME I'm in town! 10/10. Highly recommend.
We had an amazing experience at Addis Nola. We knew we wanted a platter of some sort and didn't see them on the online menu, but our waiter gave us the rundown of the platters and how they differ. We settled on the Siga Bayenetu platter which was meat galore lol. Awaze and lamb tibs plus ribeye, a bunch of delicious veggies and the tastiest injera to sop it all up. The meat was incredibly tender and everything was flavorful. This was exactly the experience we wanted to have and it seemed everyone in the restaurant was having their own version of that experience. The place was buzzing with energy. I can't wait to come back.
Great find! Exceptional service from greeting to departure! The server was gracious and knowledgeable of all the Ethiopian dishes! Patient and kind for all of us who were not as familiar with the fare. The ambiance was intimate and inviting! The food was delicious and well prepared! A must visit when in NOLA!
Absolutely stunningly decor!! Great food and service! Highly recommend!! Went with the family (husband and three kids) over the weekend and will be sure to in the future!
I'm so glad I was finally able to visit Addis NOLA. We came on a Monday evening and it was busy but there was ample seating available and we didn't have to wait. The space is beautifully decorated and really creates a lovely ambiance. We immediately ordered the Tej (honey wine) and it is soooo yummy. We also ordered the honey glaze shrimp and veggie trio. Everything was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back.
Addis Nola is a beautiful restaurant, the atmosphere feels very on-theme! Ambient lighting, cozy, comfortable vibes. There's not a ton of African restaurants in our town, so this is a welcome addition to an up-and-coming neighborhood too. If you like fruity cocktails, I would recommend the coconut rum drink ($22). It's delicious! It has pineapple juice, coconut water, agave, and rum, all served in a freshly cut coconut! We like their sambusa ($10 for 2) as an appetizer. It's like a different version of a samosa. The outer crust is made with many layers of spring roll paper crispy fried. It comes with a sweet syrupy sauce. The choice of fillings we've tried are lentil and beef, which are both delicious! I personally really love the beef! It's seasoned really well. We also ordered the Doro Wat with chicken ($26), which is an Ethiopian stew. It's a fantastic flavorful stew that's very different from an American stew. It has a sort of sauce, but the dish served is not like a soup that you may expect of a stew. It is served on a platter instead of a bowl. The stew is cooked for such a long time that there are no distinguishable vegetables in it. It's all blended together into a phenomenal "sauce". It's also served with a tomato-based sauce on the side, which is very acidic. You can have this dish with either rice or injera, which are akin to rolled up thin pancakes. The injera are very soft, a little sour (from the fermentation) and flavorful on their own. My only complaint with the doro wat is that they skimp on the chicken. For $26, they could give us a little more of the actual 'stew' We also tried the vegetable combo meal ($22?) this time. I LOVED this one and it comes highly recommended! It was seemingly the most popular dish among diners that day too, every table seemed to have it! It comes with a few different lentils (green, yellow, orange). The orange lentils were savory, the yellow were a little sweet, and the green was fresh and herby. The green lentils were cold (on purpose!) and had such a refreshing taste, it was my favorite! This dish also comes with injera as well. I haven't tried a lot of Ethiopian food, so I'll have to come back to sample the rest of their menu!
This was my first time at the new Addis location, and it's super spacious! When you enter the space, you feel transported straight into East Africa with the wicker furniture and vibrant colors. This visit, I tried mostly drinks and was very impressed with the potency and presentation of all of my cocktails. I was lucky enough to go on a Thursday, when happy hour is all day (highly suggest). Shout out to the bartender Asia for her craftsmanship!
Great food, great happy hour, great music, great vibes! I always get the same thing when I come: sambusas and vegan plate. Never ever disappoint! Come one, come all!
